Mrauk-U is an archaeologically important site in northern Rakhine State, Myanmar. The name Mrauk U means “The First Accomplishment” in archaic Arakanese. Mrauk-U was the capital of Arakanese (Rakhine) people’s powerful Mrauk-U Kingdom from 1430 to 1784. until the conquest of the kingdom by the Burmese Konbaung Dynasty in 1784.
