Myeik

The Myeik Archipelago is located at the southernmost tip of Myanmar in Tanintharyi Region. With more than 800 pristine islands spreading across the Andaman Sea, off the western shore of the Malay Peninsula, Myeik Archipelago is considered to be one of the world’s hidden ecotourism destinations. The Myeik Archipelago is enriched with incredible underwater coral reefs and marine life as well as a wide diversity of flora and fauna on islands. There are many beautiful locations for scuba-diving, sea kayaking and fishing which are considered one of the best in the world. The archipelago is inhibited by sea-dwelling Salones (Sea Gypsies) who lived in sea most of their time. Flight from Yangon to Kawthaung takes about 1 hour 40 minutes. Visitors from Thailand could take a 30 minutes boat trip from Thai border town of Ranong to Kawthaung.
